Western Leather Goods (Boot Co.) is a boot manufacturer based in Mercedes, Texas. The company operates five main brands, Anderson Bean, Rios of Merceds, Olathe Boots, Horse Power Boots, and Macie Bean. Boot Co. hired me to rework their existing sites, taking inspiration from the rebranding and marketing work of Sprocket Design Co.
Boot Co. was also dealing with legacy installations of WordPress with several outdated plugins and a disjointed feel towards each brand, lacking cohesion.
I worked closely with stakeholders at Boot Co., and alongside the creative team at Sprocket Design Co. to define and design new web layouts for all five brands. We presented designs as static templates, with supporting documentation showing recommend tech stack and information architecture.
Designs were converted into Foundation front-end code. I implemented a robust content management system (CMS), ExpressionEngine, that powers all five websites from one central login. We use custom data import scripts to integrate retailer boot inventory into the website databases to show near-real-time inventory for nationwide retailers. The retailer search functionality is powered by a customized StoreLocatorWidgets plugin.
Boot Co. has been very impressed with their websites overall, and they continue to work with me and Sprocket Design Co. to continually refine and update the websites. We are in the process of updating all tech stack to new architecture, and are moving away from Foundation to implement Tailwind.
Horse Power Boots had a redesign recently, and we are in the process of redesigning other brands as well.
